Bet √: 2021-22 Miami Heat

Just months after having their season set on fire by the eventual-NBA champion Milwaukee Bucks, the Miami Heat, swept out of the 2021 NBA Playoffs, have been set at an (average of) over/under win total of 48.5 for 2021-22.

But should NBA bettors be ready to bet on a team which failed to meet high expectations a season ago, while finishing 40-32 overall and under a total of 43 wins - at most 'books? Furthermore, the Heat cost NBA bettors an average of 6.5 units over the course of the season.

So, forget how awful Manny Diaz and Brian Flores are at their respective jobs because you lost tons of money over the weekend, and let's take a 'Bet √' of the 2021-22 Miami Heat:

Let's be honest. Last season was a failure for the NBA title-minded Miami Heat - especially coming off an NBA Finals appearance on the strength of undervalued production by several young players such as Tyler Herro and Duncan Robinson.

Now, the Heat, busy over the summer adding Kyle Lowry, P.J. Tucker and Markieff Morris, among several other NBA vets, are set at an over/under win total of 48.5 (over -105/-115 under) - at most 'books - despite appearing to start the NBA season with an older roster and unsettling bench rotation. Its not a given you're going to cash money on the Heat.

And questions persist. Can Lowry, given tons of money, be trusted for an entire season -- especially at an age when most NBA point guards start slowing down?

Are Robinson, rewarded with a big deal, and Herro one-trick ponies, or will both of them improve significantly? Is Jimmy Butler a legit NBA star, capable of engineering a title squad? Can Max Strus prove he's more than a Las Vegas kind-of-guy? Those are quite a few questions for a Heat team coming off a lackluster season.

Taking a look at betting under 48.5 - and finding value spots to go vs. the Heat throughout the season - might be your most logical move on a team that appears a bit overvalued.

Help wanted: Tyler Herro, coming off an impressive preseason, would give the Heat a lift with marked improvement during the 2021-22 NBA season.
